An impressive sixteen beers on tap, booths that evoke the 1920s or 30s, Prohibition specials, and a slightly crooked body that extends far back from the street. The whole thing is intended to recall a by-gone era, which, at times when people aren't checking their iPhone at the bar, it pulls off surprisingly well. With Roman's just a few doors down, the Brooklyn Public House seems even more relaxed than it might do if it was alone along the ascendant stretch of Dekalb Avenue in Fort Greene. The bar sets itself up perfectly as a home-away-from-home, from the lighting to the decor to the bartenders and waitstaff, with a menu of pub favorites that never miss and a fantastic bacon-wrapped sea scallop dish that comes with one of the best sides of mashed potatoes you're likely to find in the borough.
